Kerala sends a large share of its workforce abroad and has a high proportion of people who began a degree and stopped for work. Both of those produce the same requirement later: a recognized qualification, earned without leaving the job.
The three situations we see most
Someone who left a degree partway through, often to take work in the Gulf, who now needs it completed. Frequently the completed semesters still carry credit value, which means resuming rather than restarting.
Someone employed locally whose promotion is blocked by a written qualification criterion.
Someone preparing to work or migrate abroad whose visa category or employer requires a degree, usually with attestation.

What is available
UG programmes in commerce, arts, business administration and computer applications, and PG programmes in management, commerce, arts and computer applications, delivered in open and distance or online mode by universities entitled for those programmes.
The degree awarded is the university's own, and where the programme is properly entitled it is treated as equivalent to a campus degree for employment and further study.
Verifying before you pay
The same three checks apply here as anywhere. Is the institution listed by the UGC as a university. Is it entitled for this programme, in this mode, for this session. Does the programme appear on the university's own website.
This matters particularly in a market with a large number of study centres and agents. A local office with a university name on the board tells you nothing by itself. Ask whether the fee goes to the university directly and whether you will receive an enrolment number issued by the university.
If the degree is for use abroad
Plan the attestation sequence at the start, not at the end. A degree intended for a Gulf employer or a visa will usually need attestation through the Indian authorities, the Ministry of External Affairs and then the destination country's mission. It takes weeks and is far easier to complete while you are in India.
