From shortlisting a university to receiving your enrolment number and portal access, in the order it actually happens.
Admission is not complicated, but it has a sequence, and problems almost always come from doing a step out of order. Here is the whole thing.
One: decide what the degree is for
A promotion criterion, a government eligibility rule, a visa category, a change of field. The reason determines the level, sometimes the discipline, and occasionally the mode. Everything after this depends on getting it right, so if a written requirement exists, obtain it before choosing anything.
Two: check what you have already earned
If you studied before and stopped, those semesters may still carry credit value at a recognized university, which can shorten the programme substantially. Gather every marksheet you hold before assuming you are starting from the beginning.
Three: shortlist, then verify
Shortlist universities that offer the programme, then run the three checks on each: listed by the UGC as a university, entitled by the Distance Education Bureau for that programme in that mode for the current session, and the programme visible on the university's own official website.
Only compare what survives all three. Accreditation, ranking, fees and examination format are how you choose between valid options, not a substitute for validity.
Four: assemble the documents
10th and 12th marksheets and certificates, the degree certificate and consolidated marksheet for PG applicants, photo identity, a photograph and signature in the required file sizes, a transfer or migration certificate where one was issued, and an Academic Bank of Credits identifier.
Start any duplicate or reissue requests now. A lost marksheet takes weeks, and it is the most common cause of a missed deadline.
Five: apply and pay
Complete the application, upload everything, and confirm the portal shows it as submitted rather than saved as a draft. Get the full fee structure in writing first, including examination and certification charges, and confirm the fee is paid to the university directly.
Six: enrolment
Admission is confirmed when the university issues an enrolment number in your name, visible on its own portal. Not when a payment clears, and not when a receipt is issued by an office. If a week passes with no enrolment number and no explanation, ask in writing.
Seven: onboarding
Portal access, learning material, the semester calendar and your examination dates. Put the assessment dates in your work calendar the day you receive them, and check them against your known busy periods while there is still room to plan.
Eight: keep the file
Enrolment number, fee receipts, entitlement evidence for your session, and every certificate as it is issued, all in one place. Verification happens later, sometimes years later.
If you would rather not run this yourself, that is what we do. Send us your documents and the reason for the degree, and we will handle the shortlisting, the verification, the submission and the follow-up through to your enrolment number.
