Accreditation, examination system, support and total cost. What to compare, in the order that matters.
Once you have two or three universities that are genuinely entitled to run your programme, the choice between them is a practical one. These are the comparisons that change the experience, roughly in the order they matter.
Recognition, which is not a comparison
Entitlement for your programme in your mode is a gate, not a ranking. A university either has it or it does not, and one that does not is off the list regardless of how it compares on everything else. Do this first and stop treating it as a factor to weigh.
Accreditation and ranking, in proportion
A NAAC grade is an institutional quality assessment and a NIRF rank is a comparative position. Both are real signals and neither should dominate the decision. They matter most if you intend to study abroad later or to apply somewhere that screens on institutional reputation. They matter least if you need a recognized qualification for a promotion or a government eligibility criterion.
The examination system
This affects your life more than the ranking will. Ask how you are assessed, whether examinations are remotely proctored or require attendance at a centre, where the nearest centre is, and how a missed examination is handled.
Someone who travels for work and a shift worker need different answers here, and the answer is rarely in the brochure.
Support that actually exists
Ask what happens when something goes wrong: a portal that will not accept an upload, a marksheet with an error, a paper you need to re-sit. Ask who you contact, and whether that is a person at the university or a study centre. Programmes are not usually abandoned over difficulty. They are abandoned over an unanswered query in month four.
The total cost, not the advertised one
Ask for the full figure in writing: tuition per semester, examination fees, registration, re-sit charges and the cost of the final certificate and any attestation. Compare the totals, not the headline. A lower tuition with high per-paper examination charges is often the more expensive programme.
The practical shortlist
Entitled for your programme, in your mode, this session.
An examination pattern you can physically attend.
A named contact when something breaks.
A total cost you have seen written down.
Accreditation and ranking, weighted by whether your plan actually depends on them.
We do this comparison for every student we place, across the universities we work with, and there is no charge for it. Tell us your constraints and we will tell you which of them fits.
